Statement of Purpose (SOP) for electronics Fresher

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I would like to introduce myself as R.Ravi Teja. I have completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communication from MALINENI LAKSHMAIAH ENGINEERING COLLEGE an esteemed institution affiliated to JNTU UNIVERSITY. My ambition is to to pursue higher education in electronics by doing my masters in an esteemed university, and thereby make a mark in the field of electronics and communications. My aspiration is to acquire the wisdom from the knowledge and thereby give it back to the scientific community in specific and mankind in general in the long run.
Electronics has always been an orphic subject for me. Electronics in its applications and technology was always an unanswered question for me. As I grew older the questions were answered but at the same time many new questions with more complexity started haunting me. This search for the answers aroused a passion towards Electronics and started exploring the developments and applications in electronics but that did not quench my thirst for knowledge. So I joined in Diploma in Electronics & Communication, and Bachelors in Electronics & Communication Engineering but it can’t fulfill my thirst. Then I could understand only a graduate education can offer me a great deal of intellectual and personal satisfaction and challenge. I look for graduate study to refine my knowledge and skills in my areas of interest. I firmly believe that inquisitive and explorative attitude leads to constant learning process. As an Electronics Engineer,  I believe it will also serve to give direction to my goal of a career as research oriented organization. This is the main reason to plan my masters in electronics and communication.

Ranking in the top 3% of the candidates who attended the prestigious exam held, made my way easier to get into Electronics & Communication Engineering at one of the best ranked university in India, JNTU. The first two years of under graduate education was based on fundamentals of all engineering subjects. The next two years was a detailed study of electronics and communication subjects. Though all the subjects were different in their theories, all the subjects were interlinked in a few aspects. In these four years of under graduate education, I gained indepth understanding of the various techniques involved in

problem solving, mainly to cater to the services of the industries. But all the years of my under graduation was totally based on theories and I didn’t encounter any platform for the
application of those theories. I have always believed that a subject is understood better when one actually sees an abstract theory being realized by a practical system. So I felt Graduation is the area where I can put my ideas into implementation.

During my undergraduate study subjects like Communication systems, Signal processing, VLSI, Control systems, Microprocessors have been my favorite subjects. In particular I like Telecommunication & VLSI, and would like to specialize in that. The electronics and communication has always fascinated me. As years roll by the size of the chip is decreasing and the cost is decreasing effectively. Though the size is decreasing, the sophistication of the function performed by the chip is increasing all the time. This advancement in the technology of the chip industry has inspired me to work in that industry, but as for my MS degree, I would remain open to other topics as well.

I presented few paper presentations at various technical events in national level. Few topics which I gave my paper presentation were 4G communication technology, Moletronics.
During my final undergraduate year, conversations with Professor Jayalakshmi inspired me to explore the multifarious applications in the field of VLSI. I began to follow the recent research and innovations in the field by going through relevant journals, periodicals and websites. And With this basic knowledge I presented few Papers in International conferences on VLSI and published Two journals on Implementation of Low power clocked-pseudo-nmos Flip-Flop for level conversion in Dual supply systems and CMOS Full-Adders for Energy-Efficient Arithmetic Applications. I participated in  E-Robotics workshop, I had learned so much about Robotics and how it’ll work and what is the basic knowledge required. We designed Line follower Robot in that workshop.
.

In my sophomore year, I was introduced to the techniques of solving circuits using transform techniques like the Fourier Transform and the Laplace Transform. Signal transformations and their applications in Electronics and communication were beginning to interest me. In my junior year, I took up courses like Principles of Communications and Digital Signal Processing. My enthusiasm for signal transformations was transformed into a passion for Signal Processing at the end of my junior year. I completed my final year undergraduate project on  “Acoustic Echo cancellation. The purpose of this project is to look into the problem of acoustic echoes that appear in hands-free communication systems i.e to cancel Acoustic echo. Before implementing in real time on DSP kit, we have  simulated  in MAT Lab and found the response for different speech signals. Acoustic echo cancellation is a common occurrence in today’s telecommunication systems. This project report focuses on the use of adaptive filtering techniques to reduce this unwanted echo, thus increasing communication quality. This may appear a deviation from the area in which I wish to specialize, I am aware of the role that signal processing using Matlab plays an important role in field of Electronics.
In my diploma I had done our academic project on GSM based Bank locker security system. The goal of the project is to develop a unique system through mobile technology which can control various units of the houses, industries, and also provides a security system. The various appliances can be utilized by managing them remotely by using GSM technology, which enables the user to remotely control the operations of the appliances. Just by pressing keypad of remote telephone the user can perform ON/OFF operations on the appliances. The project also exhibits low cost home security system which is widely employed in our daily life. This system is designed to prevent the opening of the door by unauthorized persons. The structure of home security system contains a matrix key pad, the door latch opener and a GSM modem for the security dial up interfaced to the microcontroller. The keypad interfaced to the controller is used as the password entry system to open/close the door. As soon as the user enters the correct password, the door lock opens. If the password entered is incorrect, then a security alarm is rung and at the same time it enables the security dial-up through the GSM modem interfaced to the microcontroller. The GSM modem uses the UART interface to the controller. When the unauthorized person gives an invalid password then the controller uses the modem to inform the owner. The modem receives security dial up number and the message from the controller and it uses the GSM network to transmit the message. There is a socket in the modem to insert the sim card to use the GSM network. The destination mobile number and the password are stored in the EEPROM of the controller. I present my application in front of you hoping for positive consideration.

I am aware of universities in AUSTRIA offer great scope and encouragement for Intellectual & academic development. The process of technical advancement is very fast in AUSTRIA. Hence, AUSTRIA has emerged as one of world leader's in Science & Technology. In order to keep myself updated with latest technical advances I am keen to obtain MS degree in AUSTRIA.
After consulting my Professors, Friends and seniors studying in AUSTRIA your university has been recommended very highly for its excellent faculty & learning experience. I always believe that essence of university education lies in synergetic relationship between student and his department. I feel that graduate study at your university will be the most logical extensions of my objectives. I am confident that wholesome education that I receive at your university wil  stand me in good stead through out my career.
I sincerely request you to consider my application for admission into your reputed university. I would be grateful to you if I am accorded the opportunity to pursue my higher studies and given the opportunity, I am sure that i will be able to achieve my goals keeping in touch with the expectations of the university.
There are two reasons why I believe that graduate study in a reputed department, such as yours, is important for a person aspiring for a research career. Firstly, working for a thesis under the guidance of an expert whose work can serve as a model is the most effective method of transforming a student into a largely independent researcher making significant original contributions. Secondly, the emphasis of graduate study on intensive and independen-t study of a specialized area is an ideal way of making a student capable of reaching the frontiers of knowledge in a subfield quickly and keeping abreast of the latest developments.

Looking forward to be a part of your graduate program.

SMPS Testing-Simple Procedure to test your SMPS

SMPS (switch mode power supply) also called as (switching-mode power supply, SMPS, or switcher) is a electronic power supply device that converts the electrical power efficiently. All of us know that in every PC or Personal Computer we have one SMPS that switches the power to Mother Board in our system.SMPS is the primary device that transfers the power to the all parts in our cabinet. The graphical view of SMPS is as follows. Sometimes your system doesn't start,so many people didn't know what's the problem is.First we want check your SMPS is working or not.If SMPS (switch mode power supply)does not work the power didn't transfer to the system cabinet that results our system doesn't switch on.So how to check our SMPS is in perfect condition or not. Here is the some simple solution how to test our SMPS status i;e, it it is working properly or not. Here we provide some steps, follow these steps checking of your SMPS without Mother Board carefully you can check your SMPS status with in 2 minutes.

 STEPS TO FOLLOW:
1.Take one Electrical wire and remove the upper layer on both sides of the electrical wire as shown below.

2.After that insert the two ends in to SMPS connectors i.e, insert one end of wire in toGreen wire and other end in to Black wire and connect one back cable at one end at backside of the SMPS and other end in to switch box as shown below.

3.After that insert the wire in to plug on the switch,if SMPS fan rotates your SMPS is in perfect condition. 4.So in this way we can make sure that your SMPS is good then identify the another problem.

HOW to initialise and summarise group discussion

There is a general tendency among candidates to grab an opportunity to initiate or summarise a GD topic without putting proper emphasis on the content. Candidates often start or end a GD without knowing the importance of initiation or summarisation. Which is where this article will help:

A group discussion can be categorically divided into three phases.

1. Initiation/Introduction

2. Body of the group discussion

3. Summarisation/Conclusion

In this article, we will discuss the first and third phase.

Initiation/Introduction
Initiating a GD is a double-edged sword. When a candidate initiates, apart from grabbing an opportunity to speak, he also grabs the attention of examiners and fellow candidates. So, if a candidate who initiates is able to make a favourable first impression through his content and communication skills, it will help him sail through the GD.

On the other hand, if a candidate stammers, stutters or quotes wrong facts and figures, the damage done is irreparable. The candidate who initiates also has the onus of giving the GD the right perspective or framework. So, initiate only if you have in-depth knowledge about the topic at hand.

If, after initiating well, a candidate does not say much during the GD, it still gives the impression that he or she started the GD just for the sake of starting it, or to get those initial points earmarked for an initiator. There are different techniques to initiate a GD in order to make a remarkable first impression:

1. Quotes
An effective way of initiating a GD. If the topic is 'Should the censor board be abolished?' a quote like 'Hidden apples are always sweet', is apt to capture attention and convey more than what is actually said. For a topic like 'Customer is King,' one can quote Sam Walton's famous saying, "There is only one boss: The Customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the Chairman down, simply by spending his money somewhere else."

2. Definition
One can start a GD by defining the topic or an important term in the topic. For example, if the topic is, 'Advertising is a diplomatic way of telling a lie,' one can initiate by defining advertising as 'Any paid form of non-personal presentation and promotion of ideas, goods or services through mass media such as newspapers, magazines, television or radio by an identified sponsor.' Similarly, for a topic like 'The Malthusian Economic Prophecy is no longer relevant', a candidate could simply start by explaining the definition of the prophecy.

3. Question
Asking a question at the start of a GD creates an impact. It does not signify asking a question to any of the candidates so as to hamper the flow, it implies asking a question and then answering it yourself. If a question is being asked to hamper the flow of a GD, insult a participant or to play devil's advocate, it should be discouraged. But, if a question is being asked to promote the flow of ideas, it is appreciated. If the GD topic is 'Should India go to war with Pakistan', for instance, you could start by asking, 'What does war bring to the people of a nation?'

4. Shocking statement
Initiating a GD with a shocking statement is the best way of grabbing immediate attention and putting forth your point. If the topic is 'Impact of population on the Indian economy,' for instance, it can be initiated with a statement like, 'Near the centre of the Indian capital stands a population clock that relentlessly ticks away. It tracks 33 births a minute, 2,000 an hour, 48,000 a day, which calculates to nearly 12 million every year. That is roughly the size of Australia. As a current political slogan puts it, nothing is impossible when 1 billion Indians work together.'

5. Facts figures and statistics
When a candidate decides to initiate a GD through facts, figure and statistics, he should quote them accurately. Approximation is allowed for macro level figures, but micro level figures need to be correct and accurate.

For instance, we can say that approximately 70 per cent of the Indian population stays in rural areas (macro figures, approximation allowed) but we cannot list 30 states of India instead of 28 (micro figures, no approximations). If a person ends up stating wrong facts, it works to his or her disadvantage.

6. Short story
This can be used for a GD topic like 'Attitude is everything.' The topic can be initiated with the help of a short story as follows: 'A child once asked a balloon vendor, who was selling helium gas-filled balloons, if a blue-coloured balloon would go up as high as a green-coloured one. The vendor told the child that it was not the colour of the balloon but what was inside it that made it go high'

7. General statement
This can put the GD into proper perspective. For example, if the topic is 'Should Sonia Gandhi be the prime minister of India?' one could start by putting it into perspective with, "Friends, before jumping to any conclusion, let us first find out what qualities a good prime minister should possess. We can then compare these with the qualities possessed by Sonia Gandhi, which will help us reach a conclusion in a more objective and effective manner.

Summarisation techniques
Most GDs are left without a conclusion, and it isn't even essential that a group reach one. Remember that a GD is about getting to know one's personality traits and it is the process, not the conclusion that reveals these traits. Even though not every GD is concluded, every one is still summarised. While a conclusion represents a final stage, where the entire group decides in favour or against a topic, in the case of a summarisation a candidate summarises in a nutshell what the group has discussed. The following points should be kept in mind while summarising a discussion:

1. No new point should be taken up.

2. A person should not share his or her own viewpoint alone.

3. A summary should not dwell only on one side of the GD.

4. It should be brief and concise.

5. It should incorporate all the important points spoken.

If a candidate has been told by the examiner to summarise a GD, this means it has come to an end. It is not advisable to add anything once a GD has been summarised.

A simple framework for a summary can be, 'We had a healthy group discussion and, as a group, evaluated this topic from different perspectives. Some of my friends spoke in favour of the topic and the reasons they gave were (elaborate), while some good points against the topic were (elaborate). In all, we had a very good discussion with everyone participating enthusiastically.'

The initiation and summarisation techniques mentioned above will help you make an impact and succeed in a Group Discussion.
